(WXYZ)-pet owners were warned to be careful when eating their furry friends. People get salmonella from pet food. At least 70 people get salmonella from contaminated pet food that is produced in Pennsylvania. Food and Drug Administration is promising to step up testing.
In the meantime, the owners were told to make sure and wash your hands after handling and pet foods. Also try and keep children out of a pet dishes and bowls. At this point, in the reported cases, salmonella affecting people no pets.
